Free High Resolution Vintage Victorian Valentine's Day Postcard.Coming Soon - 25 Days of Vintage Valentines!.I think both have their merits between the authenticity & nostalgia of carving a real pumpkin (and roasting the seeds!!) – or having a beautiful pumpkin that you can display for several years. That’s actually a pretty good idea!įor carving more intricate pumpkins, I am always on the fence – do I spend hours carving a real pumpkin only to have it collapse and rot in 48 hours? Or do I spend the extra $$ and carve it into one of those artificial pumpkins? I’ve done both – I posted a whole page of tips back in 2009 if you want to go the “Funkins” pumpkins route. If you are feeling adventurous, simply add the moon back in – or you could also make this one of those two-level carvings in which the moon is only carved into the top layer of the skin, and the rest is cut through the entire flesh of the pumpkin. It’s always hard to strike a balance between adding details and subtracting them to ensure the carving can handle holding up the weight of the pumpkin flesh. 😉 I left off the moon in the background because it would have left the remaining pumpkin sections too vulnerable and flimsy. This pattern is definitely for the intermediate, patient pumpkin carver. This image is based on another one of The Graphic Fairy’s Halloween images – a sexy retro witch riding on her broom: It’s almost the weekend, and October weekends are for pumpkin carving, so here’s another vintage pattern for you! Welcome to Day 10 of 25 Days of Vintage Hallowe’en Art!
